These lights are not like 100watt lite bulbs, they are bright long life devices. The many reviews regarding their brightness are due to user expectations, not the device. LEDs provide a bright light and most importantly a white light. I compared my OEM bulb to this LED on my Jeep and the LED was as bright, in fact brighter, but the whiteness of the LED in the reverse/back-up light mode was brilliant.

You will need the Putco resistor kit to prevent the "over flash" but the LED will last for many years and provide bright and safe lighting. This device is for the long term. I have replaced all my bulbs and am very pleased with the Putco LEDs.
