I ride a Victory Vision Road Bike and my family drives a Chevy Colorado and a Mitsubishi Lancer. When Prorack says their carrier will fit on almost any vehicle, they mean it - properly adjusted, it fits both vehicles like a glove.

Let me back up a bit and clarify something: this bike rack is clearly meant for adult bikes. The spacing between the bike arms just barely fits inside the frame of my bike. A teen's bike will probably fit (with one arm outside the frame but the other still secured by the included strap), but you won't be able to get a kid's bike on here without tilting it, if at all.

The carrier itself is adjustable on several fronts. The bike arms rotate independently of each other, and the two pieces that rest on your car can adjust to any angle you want - all pieces rotate 360 degrees when unlocked. I can adjust it so both pads rest on the back of my Colorado's rear gate, or for my mother's Lancer I can have one resting on top of the trunk and one on the rear bumper. When you lock the arms, they all fit together via serrated "teeth" so they won't rotate. Locking and unlocking is done via the two gray levers visible in the photo, and if they're not locking tight enough you can turn a knob to tighten it further.

The carrier secures to your vehicle via four straps. Two straps are hard-pointed on the carrier and end in wide powdered-steel hooks that are smooth and without sharp edges so as not to scratch your vehicle. These attach to the top edge of the trunk (closest to the front of the vehicle) or, in the case of my pickup, I run them over the gate and attach them on the bottom inside. If you have a hatchback or some other vehicle where this point is glass, Prorack lets you switch out the hooks for a set of padded cylindrs to distribute the pressure and avoid cracks.

The second set of straps has hooks on both ends (running through the carrier). One end attaches to the bottom of the trunk/gate, the other to the side. Once all the hooks are attached, it's a simple matter of pulling the end of the strap through the buckle to tighten it. Voila, you're done! The first time took me ten minutes to set up. Now that I knew what I was doing, the second time took me five minutes.

Once the rack is on the car, you simply put your bike on and attach it using two adjustable points (one on each arm) that allow you to secure the bike with velcro straps. Another included strap can be threaded through the tires to prevent them or the handlebar from turning.

One thing to note: this carrier is rated to carry 90 pounds. I'm not sure I would trust it with that weight in all configurations (especially with it on my truck, where the only vertical securement is the straps) given the apparent strength of the straps. But even at half that weight, it will easily carry most bikes. Just wanted to throw that out there.
