I needed a set of larger, HD jack stands for an ex-military ambulance I purchased. Being 12 ton capacity, I knew they would handle anything I would likely buy in my lifetime. The pictures really don't do justice to how big these are. I had thought the shipping company had dropped off the wrong item when I saw how big the box was. They were very well packed and they are heavy! Looking at them, they are very well built and dwarf my 6 ton stands.

They have a locking pin for when you have the lift bars down for storing. Remove the pin, which is chained to the stands so you don't lose them, and lift up on the lever. Like magic, the lift bar will slowly rise until you release the lever or it tops out. To put them down, you lift the lever and push the bar down. Make sure you put the locking pin back in so when you grab the lift lever to move them, you don't cause the bar to rise accidentally.

If you are looking for a very heavy duty, large size jack stand that allows you to raise the lift bar one handed (which is really nice when you don't want to get too far under the vehicle), this is the jack stand to have. Remember, the capacity is for the pair, not each.
