Jtech 2x H7 Type 88W High Power SMD LED Fog/DRL Bulb Xenon White Light. Built in CANBUS Warning Canceller Function Review

I have these installed as my highbeams in my 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo. They work pretty well as highbeams, perhaps not as well as the original halogens, but the color is much nicer, and they should last a lot longer.

Things to understand about LEDs:

1) Wattage isn't everything. These modules are theoretically able to dissipate 60W of energy as a combination of light and heat. Under normal circumstances, they probably won't be doing that.

2) LED modules do not have the same focus as halogens, due to the placement of the light sources. They cause some funky reflections inside the reflector. They also cause glare against the outer clear plastic housing for the same reason. however, they look really great and work fairly well so long as you follow the usual highbeam laws (no driver should see your highbeams, either from the front or from behind).

3) LEDs draw a certain amount of current (amps) when first illuminated. As they glow, they dissipate some of that current as heat, which makes them warmer. As this happens, they are able to draw more current, so they get even brighter, even hotter, and eventually can fail. This is called "Thermal Runaway" and it is a bad thing. The solution is to limit the amount of current they can draw so they never hit a failure point, or to use a thermal monitor to reduce the current supplied when they get too hot. No idea if these modules include either solution, but I'd suspect not.

4) Really bright LEDs will use a pretty complex circuit board design to adjust voltage and current supply to maximize output. These don't. They're bright, but some modules that are only 15-20W may actually be brighter. Remember #1: wattage isn't everything.

I would recommend these for anyone who likes the look of 6000K high beams, and can afford to lose a bit of light due to falloff. They'll last a very long time, and are plenty bright for suburban or occasional rural driving. They aren't appropriate for hardcore offroad use, in my opinion.

OSRAM - LEDriving W5W 6000K (Pair) Review

I resorted to buying these after purchasing one Sylvania LEDriving 168/194 bulb from my local Auto Zone and it becoming impossible to find a second. Auto Zone has stopped stocking the Sylvania version for some reason. I installed these in the license plate sockets of my 1998 Toyota Corolla and installed the Sylvania in my trunk. The two versions emit the same light. They are identical with the exception of their outer shape. The Sylvainia version is rounded and the Osram is flat on the top. The light output is crisp white. I am impressed.
